I heard from elders that Addis Ababa (AA) was not crowded as it is today. Many people knew each other. Many people look after one another. And many people used to celebrate festivals together. There were no thieves entering houses or even clothes were not disappeared from dryer outside. All adults have a work to earn a living depending of their profession. No one depend on the hand of the other. All believes in God and were proud of Ethiopia. All loves the flag, gave respect to the King. This was what I heard from the elders.
AA which I know today is not the same as AA which I heard from my elders. What is the reason? I asked. In the past Moslems and Christians lived in harmony. In the past traditions and customs went alongside in harmony. Moral and manners were deep whereas knowledge of intellectuals was shining like jewels. During the past, drama and arts reflected truths and beliefs. AA today is besieged by traitors and corrupted businessmen. Of-course AA is full of corruption buildings, night clubs, bars, cosmetics, beauty salons, laundries, car renters and so on.
The palace which was once stood as counseling house of the patriots, where King Menelik and Taitu discussed how to conquer colonialism, is taken by banditries which do not care for Ethiopia. The jubilee palace of King Hailesselassie is also occupied. The military rule (DERG) killed intellectuals but meanwhile used the knowledge of intellects that had the chance to get best education during the kingdom of Haile Selassie. Today, it is different. Illiterates, who do hate Ethiopia, are dancing in the great palaces, AA remain silent. Today while those gangsters’ without knowledge and wisdom are playing with the power of the people, AA still sited silence. I do not know why? There is also another amazing factor. When the Abunas (His Holiness – Patriarchs or Spiritual Heads of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church) Theophilos and Tekle Haymanot are replaced by the revolutionary priest Aba Paulos, AA remains passive because of fear. Tragically when the power of the spiritual fathers and the legal Synods is misused, AA remains silent. It is really a shame.
AA is the capital city where people from around the country are coming to live together. AA is the capital city engaged in bringing political demands to the state. During the monarchy, students in AA opposed the rule of the king. It was AA which trembles the throne of the king. There after the king was not capable of administering the country. The slogans «LAND TO THE TILLER» and «PEOPLE'S GOVERNMENT NOW» were not only slogans. They were directives and symbol of the revolutionary students. They were indeed people’s rights. Revolutionaries deceased but the slogans are still alive. Astonishingly, we still have no answer for these revolutionary demands. During previous times, the youth was beaten by sticks for raising these demands. Then students were murdered by red terror squads of the military regime for repeating these questions. Today the phenomena in my age are different. We, the youth cannot raise these demands. We are pushed by the government to flee instead of saying «RESPECT HUMAN RIGHTS» or «PEOPLE’S GOVERNMENT». Courageous Ethiopians such as Andualem Arage, Esikindre and Riot are thrown into prison only for echoing the past demands of the people.
AA, as I have mentioned it above, is currently crowded by either displaced persons (from native places) or looters. They are not workers to get hired in the industries, to earn for a living. AA including other cities in Ethiopia are full of street children, prostitutes, thieves and looters, graduated unemployed and depressed youths, state security agents, polices, sex hunters, narcotic sellers, illegal vendors of ancient antiques, dealers to send girls to Arab countries, contrabandists and smugglers. During the times of the past regimes people were eating at least 3 times. Today those who are eating are only the looters, corrupting officials and their friends. The people are starving. This is revenge politics of the TPLF.
Old demand such as «PEOPLE'S GOVERNMENT» which is not still answered turned to be «PEOPLE'S DISPLACEMENT». I am afraid that «PEOPLE'S DISPLACEMENT» will turn to «PEOPLE'S DISFRANCHISEMENT». The traditional log age rule of dynasties and its modern army destroyed. The patriotic Ethiopian Orthodox Church has been ruined (taken by atheists). The next stage remained is to lose Ethiopia and migrate. The old demands such as «people's government» are no more political demands. We are not able to fight for it right now. We should give priority to defend the sovereignty of the country instead. When we are weak Westerners or Arabs might be happy. TPLF, which is favored by westerners, is in power.
It is becoming vague to us whether what kind or struggle we should follow. But one thing we realized is that the destruction of Ethiopia will be a big shame to the Oromos, Tigres, Amharas, Gambellas, Afars, Ogadens and all the rest of Ethiopians. Tragically we remain to defend the unity of Ethiopia rather than demanding democracy or people's government.
Many words are already written about what I try to explain here. Many discussions have been performed. All these attempts were in order that TPLF will improve its bad rule or replace TPLF with people's representatives. But nothing has changed. High food prices (inflation) and poverty weaken the people's hope. All are migrating.
We Ethiopians should discuss about the reason why we could not stand together as one people.
We, Ethiopians, were shouting for «PEOPLE’S GOVERNMENT». But on the contrary we saw with our own eyes that indigenous people are displaced from native lands, such as Guraferda and Benshangul. What is remaining? We should get up and stand up as one, before we, the people, are shattered into pieces.
Let us remain healthy.

የወያኔ ስርዓት የኢትዮጵያን አስተዳደር ሲያዋቅር በህዝብ ታሪካዊ አብሮነትና ተዛምዶ ላይ ተመስርቶ ሳይሆን የብሔር ብሔረሰብ ልዩነቶችን በማጉላትና ልዩነቱም የርስበርስ ጥርጣሬና ግጭት ምንጭ እንዲሆን በማድረግ ነው። ልዩነቱ የእርስ በርስ ግጭትና የረጅም ጊዜ ቁርሾ እንዲፈጥር ተደርጎ ከመዋቀሩ በተጨማሪ፣ ግጭቱ በማንኛውም ጊዜ እንዲነሳ ፖለቲካዊ ግፊት ይደረግበታል ። አንዱ ብሔረሰብ በሌላው ብሔረሰብ ክልል ውስጥ ሲሆን ባዕድነት እንዲሰማውና እንዲሰጋ፣ አንዱ ሌላውን በጥርጣሬ እንዲመለከተው ለማድረግ ላለፉት 24 አመታት ሲገፋ ቆይቷል፤ እየተገፋም ነው። በዘመነ ወያኔ በየቦታው በብሔር ወይም ብሔርሰብ ስም የተነሱ ግጭቶች በሙሉ የተቀሰቀሱት በራሱ በአገዛዙ ባለስልጣኖች እንጂ በህዝቡ አይደለም፤ ሆኖም አያውቅም። በተለያዩ የደቡብ የሀገሪቱ ክፍሎች የአማራ ተወላጆችን ኢሰብዓዊ በሆነ መንገድ ለማባረር የተወሰዱት እርምጃዎች በሙሉ ባለስልጣኖቹ ከፊትና ከጀርባ ሆነው የቀሰቀሱዋቸው ፣ ያቀነባበሩዋቸውና የመሩዋቸው ለመሆናቸው ተጎጂዎች በግልጽ ሲናገሩ ሰምተናል።
